Colonel Peng Qi was a district Garrison Commander in Yingzhou and came from a long line of military men. He was a skilled strategist and fought with a three-pointed two-edged lance.
Grand Marshal Gao Qiu had assigned a force of 5000 cavalry and 5000 infantry men to General Huyan Zhuo (plate 55) and appointed him the task of taking down the Liangshan bandits once and for all. Huyan Zhuo requested Peng Qi and Han Tao (plate 57) to be his lieutenants.
Peng Qi was captured on the first day of fighting when Hu Sanniang (plate 46) caught him with a hooked rope and pulled him from his horse. Expecting to be executed, Peng Qi was astonished when Song Jiang (plate 107) instead untied his ropes and sat to talk with him. Through his warm nature and respect, Song Jiang was able to convince Peng Qi to join the Liangshan bandits.

As the saga of the outlaws of Liangshan Marsh continued, Song Jiang led an army of Liangshan bandits to rescue Lu Junyi (plate 68) from the Daming Prison as he awaited execution. During the conflict, Peng Qi and his comrades had pretended to be beaten by Captain Suo Chao (plate 73) of the Imperial Army, and when he pursued them, he fell into their pit which was hidden by the deep snow, and was captured.
Peng Qi is shown here with his rope, waiting to tie up Suo Chao and take him prisoner.
