Zhu Wu ends up abdicating leadership of the Mount Shaohua bandits to Shi Jin (plates 1; 4; 9), and the group eventually aligns with the bandits of Liangshan Marsh.

After Shi Jin’s succession as leader of Mount Shaohua, he was captured trying to save a young woman who had been abducted by the Governor of Hua Prefecture. Unable to rescue him on their own, Shi Jin’s comrades sought help from the outlaws of Liangshan Marsh. Knowing of the bravery and heroics of Shi Jin, they agreed to help, and together the two groups were able to free Shi Jin. Realizing the advantage and strength gained from joining forces, Shi Jin, Zhu Wu, and the rest of the bandits of Mount Shaohua remained at Liangshan and became a part of their legions.

Zhu Wu is shown here using sorcery to conjure up a demon, although this is not an ability he is described as having in the novel. For more on Zhu Wu see plate 5
