Nickname: Intuitive Strategist
Zhu Wu was originally from Dingyuan County. He could fight with a sword in each hand, was an excellent strategist, and was first in command of an army of 700 outlaws who had an encampment on Mount Shaohua.
In this depiction, Zhu Wu (foreground), and Yang Chun (mounted atop his horse), cheer on Chen Da in his battle with Shi Jin. However, in the novel Zhu Wu and Yang Chun strongly advised Chen Da not to confront Shi Jin, and they themselves remained behind on Mount Shaohua while Chen Da fought Shi Jin outside his home in the Shi Village. This scene is the rightmost segment of a triptych, which is a more elaborate illustration of the battle between Shi Jin and Chen Da seen on plate 1. The triptych is arranged from left to right in the sequence of plates 3, 4, and 5. This is the only point in the series where the same scene is illustrated multiple times. For more details about this scene, see plate 1. For more on Zhu Wu, see plate 2.
