With a keen eye Paul Dobleman is known for his ability to reinterpret & infuse a dark sensibility into the classic tattoo lexicon.  While retaining core elemental forms he pulls forth mood & metaphor that have been overlooked in past representations.

In Paul's most recent body of work, fifty hand painted flash sheets, he draws directly from the established imagery of his predecessors.  Adapting classic imagery from giants of the craft such as Bert Grimm, Owen Jensen, Cap Coleman, George Burchette, George Bigmore, W. Grimshaw, Sailor Vern, & Ben Corday.

Having long gone hand n' hand, traditional tattooing & painting flash ubiquitously counterbalance.  From the circus, to The Pike, to biker shops, & to what we are immersed in today.  It has been a long lasting tradition passed on from tattooer to tattooer through so many generations.  Whether the designs were shared, traded, created, or stolen, the iconic imagery has remained relevant throughout the continuum.
